In this blog I
would be discussing about the recently added Hilux
side steps and how it helped my family members for a smoother ride.
At first let me
tell you what is a side step and it utility. People at times get confused
between Nerf Bars, Side Steps, Running Boards and Rock Sliders. These can
combine themselves or can be used individually depending on the requirement.
The first kind of accessories that were used on cars were the Nerf boards.
These were mounted on racing cars and acted like bumpers to avoid any collision
of tires with the adjacent cars. It acted like a precaution and didn’t require
to be heavy and broad.
From there on a
necessity was felt to build something that could help to board and deboard
vehicles having high ground clearance. This is where the side steps came into
being.
The side steps
were invented for easy access to the car and also acted as a protection layer
from being hit by any hard surface beside the vehicle. The side steps came with
rubber padding to provide additional grip to the passenger while getting in or
out.
I got a Toyota a
few months back and never felt the necessity to additionally mount any steps.
It clicked my mind the very instance when my grandparents wished to visit my
place over the holidays. Due to their age it would be hard for them to board or
deboard the high vehicle. This is when I thought of installing Hilux
side steps.
It was definitely
a good decision and I felt it right when I went to pick them up from the
airport. They could easily mount on such a high vehicle. Throughout their trip
I took them to places on my Toyota and without any difficulty they accessed the
vehicle.
